One of the outcomes of the 2006 Governor’s Summit is an increase in the number of workshops and online trainings provided to behavioral health professionals.
Initially funded by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Defense, the Citizen Soldier Support Program (CSSP) has teamed with the Area Health Education Center and the Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center of the Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to develop and deliver top-notch trainings on:
- post-traumatic stress disorder
- traumatic brain injury
- military culture
- women warriors
- and issues faced by military families.
Workshops have been translated into online trainings, and about 1300 NC providers have attended the online trainings. Of this number, nearly half have also signed up for TRICARE.
