The American Legion has been vocal about the delays in veterans receiving care at Veterans Affairs Medical Centers across the country. NC has not been immune to these delays. According to the nationwide audit released June 9, patients at the Fayetteville VAMC wait an average of 29 days for a primary care appointment. New patients wait an average of 83 days. These findings prompted a June 12 visit by acting VA Secretary Sloan D. Gibson, who pledged more support for the medical center.
