On January 28, Governor McCrory issued a press release on the publication of the annual report of the NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. One of the report’s findings is that the State is attracting more Veterans to live in the State. NC has the 8th largest veteran population in the country, which translates to a boom to the state’s economy. Federal expenditures on NC veterans grew 12% in 2014 to $8.2 billion, an increase of $1 billion compared to 2013. Other report highlights include an increase of Veterans Service Offices in 2014 to 22 by spring; being ranked 2nd in the nation for the most improved rate of servicing veterans; and being ranked 4th nationally in successful claims awards for NC Veterans.
