The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the US Department of Health and Human Services has contracted with PRA Associates to offer technical assistance services to service members, veterans, and their families and to the treatment providers who offer clinical services.  The website offers behavioral health services and resources as well as statistics about the men and women who have served since 2001.  For example, an estimated 18.5% of service members returning from Iraq or Afghanistan have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or depression, and 19.5% report experiencing a traumatic brain injury (TBI) during deployment.  Using 2014 data for NC active duty service members (112,250) and Reservists (16,127), that translates to about 23,246 with PTSD or depression and 24,503 with a TBI.
