U.S. Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) take part in an acclimatization test at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Aug. 19, 2012. The test consisted of a 3-mile run while carrying a 30-pound pack. A contingent of the 24th MEU was in Djibouti conducting unilateral, bilateral and joint exercises with U.S. and foreign militaries. The 24th MEU was deployed with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout the U.S. Central and Africa Commands in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
