Braggtown Baptist Church is hosting a Spiritual Resilience Conference for Veteran and Military families to address issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, suicidal ideation, multiple deployments, and high divorce rates.

Hosted by the Hospice & Palliative CareCenter and Rowan Hospice & Palliative Care, Spirit of ’45 will honor World War II Veterans.

This event is free for WWII Veterans and one guest (and $45 for others).

Check-in begins at 3:00 pm, with a group photo at 4:00 and dinner to follow.

Stand Downs are an opportunity for Veterans experiencing homelessness to receive services and supplies such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, and benefits counseling. Veterans can also receive referrals for health care, housing, employment, and behavioral health treatment. They are collaborative events, coordinated between local VA Medical Centers, other government agencies, and community-based homeless service providers.

Save the Date for this year’s 6th Annual “Saluting Our Veterans” Car Show. Each year the proceeds of the Car Show are donated to our Recreation Therapy program to offer services to our Veterans. The event is FREE to attend and only $10 to show your car or bike. They will have plenty of raffles, silent auctions, food, and music for everyone!

NC STRIVE invites you to join us for our inaugural conference in which we will share best practices to better serve our nation’s veterans, service members, and their family members in seeking higher education.  This cutting edge conference will facilitate statewide emphasis for all levels of higher education to enhance the support of our Veteran’s enrollment and success in school.  Held in the auditorium of the North Carolina National Guard Headquarters in Raleigh, the conference is the culmination of the work of a collaborative partnership between federal and state agencies, institutions of higher education, and nonprofit organizations.

Addressing the Needs of Our Military Families

On March 10, the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services, the Governor’s Institute on Substance Abuse, and the Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center are sponsoring an all-day Practice Improvement Collaborative conference at the McKimmon Conference and Training Center in Raleigh to highlight military families in North Carolina.
